Phone, tablet, and computer help · Joshua Tree & Yucca Valley
A free weekly Tech Table for your residents. No cost to the community.
I’m Ron. For two hours a week, at the same day and time, I sit in your clubhouse or activity room. Residents bring a phone, tablet, or laptop. I help with texting, photos, FaceTime, Wi‑Fi, passwords, and scam calls. About 10 minutes per person is free. If someone needs more time, they book a home visit with me at a posted price, so it does not become work for your staff.
What you provide
- A table and two chairs where people already walk by
- A line in the newsletter or on the bulletin board
- Your vendor paperwork — I’ll complete whatever you use (insurance, background check, W‑9)
What residents get
- About ten minutes of free, patient help per visit
- A written note of anything we changed
- Scam awareness, one tip at a time
- Family can sit in or listen by phone
When a resident needs more than ten minutes
They book directly with me at posted rates, so it never lands on your team: home visit $100 first hour, $70 each hour after; phone or video help $30 a call or $30/month for three. Adult children can book and pay remotely for a parent. When my season here ends, residents who want to keep going can, by phone or video.
Boundaries, so you know
I don’t touch residents’ bank or money accounts, I don’t keep their passwords, and I don’t do caregiving, repairs or anything medical. I only see residents at the table or by appointment — never door to door. If anyone appears unable to consent to help, I stop and involve family.
Proposed pilot
Four weeks. Day from time to time, starting date, in room. If residents show up, we keep going.
